What to order, #3: the anonymous troll
In this third instalment in our series of wine notes, in which we match members of the digerati with their ideal beverage, we turn our attention to trolls as part of The Kernel’s #TROLLWATCH initiative.
El Bon Homme 2011, Valencia, Spain
We don’t know of the perfect wine for someone who abuses others under a false name, but, if we did, it would probably be The Good Man: perhaps it would encourage the miscreant to clean up their act.
This wine is a blend of Monastrell (Mourvedre) and Cabernet Sauvignon made by Rafael Cambra in vineyards surrounded by almond trees in the hills outside Valencia at 700m. Somewhat eccentrically each case comes with four different labels, each featuring a stick man with a red button.
What about the wine you ask? Ripe but balanced with sweet blackberry and plum fruits, a touch of black cherry along with some spicy herb notes. A concentrated, yet easy to drink wine, with a nice structure, and a seductive finish.
Recommendations in this series come from Summer Chimney Wine Club, a new subscription wine service. The Kernel receives no commission or kick-backs from the club.
