Premier events company Forgather is to stage a new series of events, designed to bring tech start-up and advertising communities in London together.
There’s nothing The Kernel enjoys more than a good punch-up. Now, Forgather, one of London’s swankiest events organisers and the team behind the exclusive annual “Snowball” – a ski trip for Europe’s top investors and entrepreneurs - has come up with an idea to create one.
Ad agencies and production companies are always bleating about mean-spirited clients and sponsors, claiming they need to be more entrepreneurial – in other words, more like the tech sector. They all want to build more digital properties for themselves.
And the tech sector is constantly building new apps and services that are reliant on advertising revenues, even though many have never sold drop of advertising in their lives.
So the events supremos want to bring these two communities, tech start-ups and adland, together, to see what happens, on 25 September at the Paramount club in London.
The new series of events, called Collision, is designed to bring together the two vibrant communities as they become increasingly inter-related. The aim, according to Belinda Raynes, a Partner at Forgather is “to catalyse business partnerships and explore areas for knowledge transfer and cooperation”.
Whatever that means.
The organisers plan to lay on great food, great wine and an interesting venue. “It won’t be a fluffy, social media network but a real powerhouse of disrupters, rebels and innovators,” says Raynes. “One that will inspire new creative partnerships.”
The Kernel understands that participants need to have “big brains, big egos and big social outreach”. On that basis, if you’re reading this page you’re probably qualified. Find out more here.
